We're going to fun getting that out, although it might make an interesting new addition to the navigation course?
Well there's good news & bad news! Good news, the tree that was always getting in everyone's way has finally gone. Bad news , it's now in the lake!

Last month, the Club said good bye to one of it's longest active members, Ken Davy & he will be sadly missed by many of us. Ken joined the club in the late eighties, when the club had only just got started & quickly became a regular face at club events.
He hadn't been around the lake very much in these last few years, as he spent most of his time helping to care for his wife Jean, who has been in a care home, during that time. On behalf of the club & myself, we would like to send our deepest condolences to Jean & the rest of Ken's family, in this saddest of times,
On Tuesday night, some of our club members got together for one of our regular Evening Dinner events. This time it was at the Chinese Buffet restaurant Izumi in Warley, Brentwood. If you are local, I thoroughly recommend a visit here, the food was excellent & enjoyed by all who attended.
December 2016 - Christmas Buffet Our Christmas buffet was held at the School Meeting Room on Friday 9th December. It was well attended this year with plenty of food & fun during the evening. Appologies were given by Neil Martin, who was unable to produce the usual picture slide show this year due to a broken arm. The annual awards were given out by the Chairman Dave Brumstead & the winners were as follows:- The Peter Revill Trophy was won by Neil Martin, The Jack Connelly Cup was won by Andy King & The Club 500 racing was won by Daniel Martin. October 2016 - Carvery Dinner October 2016 - Museum Of Power Model Show A new event on our calendar for the first time this year was the Museum Of Power Model Show in Maldon, Essex. This event now hopes to be an important annual event since the demise of the Barleylands Essex Country Show that has now finished. Although there was nowwhere to do an 'on the water' display, there was a significant number of visitors to the show, with lots of people stopping to ask about the club & its activites. We very much looking forward to returning to the show again next year. September 2016 - Night Regatta The mad few of us decided to head over to the lake on a Saturday evening to run our boats after dark. We also had a BBQ running for the evening to provide much needed hot food, although the weather was considerably mild for the time of year. We had a visitor from the USA, in the form of Bill Michaels from the Marine Modellers Club of New England. He was in the UK on business, nearby our lake, so came along to enjoy the event. A link to their website is here. http://www.marinemodelers.org/index.html September 2016 - Barleylands Essex Country Show As we & many other clubs attended this years Essex Country Show at Barleylands Farm, Billericay, little did we know that this would be the last time for all of us. The show has closed after 30 years & will no doubt be missed by everyone who regularly attended it. Septemer 2016 - Visit to Fishers Green Club A few of us managed to get over to the Fishers Green Club Open Day in September. They have possibly some of the nicest facillities of any club in the region. They provided hot food & the chance of some free sailing on theirs waters that offer both sheltered areas along side open wide expances of water for sailing & power boating. The nearby club house also provides food & drink along with other amenities for their members. August 2016 - Visit from Moorhen Club For the August visit by the Moorhen Club, the summer had vey much at last started & we were now enjoying good weather. So out came the BBQ & we all enjoyed a good day at the lake side. July 2016 - Visit from Southend Club Southend Model Boat Club visited us in July for an interclub scale steering & club 500 racing event. It was a good day & enjoyed by all with plenty of diversity in the models displayed on the water as seen below. July 2016 - Dunmow Flitch Trials Every four years, the town of Great Dunmow has the Flitch Trials & we have been invited to display on the town pond adjacent to the main show. This year we catered for the local children by providing them with free goes on the water with some of our models. Special thanks has to go to Bruce Fletcher for providing most of the models for this & keeeping them maintained on the day. Also thanks to Marion Brumstead & Geoff Eplett for their assistance with the children on the day. June 2016 - Wings & Wheels Model ShowThe weather was a bit hit & miss at this years Wings & Wheels Model Show. The rain left the ground surface very muddy in places, particularly at the entrance to the marquee. However, this did not deter our members who still enjoyed the weekend, making the most of any good periods of weather, which we did get. The fair winds crossing the display lake allowed for David Petts to show off his his new model of HMS Bounty & Ron Rees of Fishers Green Club displayed his latest model tug, built primarily from depron foam! June 2016 - Open DayMarch 2016 - Visit to Moorhen Club We enjoyed our annual trip to see the Moorhen Model Boat Club who now reside in Roydon Marina. They put on a BBQ for the day along with more cake than any of us could eat. The inter-club steering competition was won by our own Daniel Martin.
